After completing his BAMS (Ayurvedacharya) at Ayurveda College, Coimbatore, he served as a tutor of Ayurveda at the same college. Following his academic studies, he apprenticed under Ashtavaidyan Sri Vaidyamadhom Valiya Narayanan Namboodiri. He served as an RMO at K. A. Samajam Ayurveda Hospital, Shoranur, and as a visiting doctor at its branches in Chennai and Trivandrum. He was a member of the panel of doctors at K. A. Samajam, which included renowned Ashtavaidyas, Ayurvedic Experts and  some famous allopathic doctors. He was also an active participant in    K. A. Samajam panel for Infertility

He is the Chief Consulting Physician at Poomully Mana Ayurveda Hospital, established in the honorable memory of his Guru, Sri Poomully Neelakandan Namboodirippad, since 1998.

In 2002, Dr. NN Devan Namboodiri founded Asokalayam, offering both O.P. and I.P. facilities. He is also a consulting physician at Nandavanam Ayurveda Hospital, Ottappalam.

Now he is a Panelist in Ashtamgam Integrated Subfertility Center
