Clots are the final product of the blood coagulation process. This includes platelets, red blood cells, and a mesh of cross-linked fibrin. Blood clots can occur anywhere in the body and can be thrombi, among other things.

Menstrual blood clots are common these days. The amount, length, and frequency of bleeding vary from person to person and month to month.

If the blood clots are very large in size and occur frequently, it should be a cause for concern.

Menstrual clots are released when the blood flow outpaces the body’s ability to produce anticoagulants.

Clots can occur due to various causes – physical and menstrual causes, stress, uterine causes, hormonal imbalances, etc.

These usually accompany heavy bleeding and increased frequency and should be taken seriously before complications arise. Clot size and color should also be noted.

Eating a healthy diet, drinking plenty of water, avoiding suppression of natural urges, and maintaining a good routine and hygiene should be practiced to help manage such occurrences.
