Rithu Sameeksha, a Two day seminar on “Asrigdaram and Nashtarthavam” was held on 6 th & 7 th August, 2016 at Ashtamgam Ayurveda Chikitsalayam & Vidyapeedham. Rithu Sameeksha was aimed at an in depth discussion on menstrual disorders. Menstrual abnormalities are very common in “Streeroga OP department. 33 delegates attended Rithu Sameeksha which started at 9.30 AM on 6 th August, 2016. The seminar started with lighting the lamp followed by prayer by Dr. Sheela.

References from from Ashtanga hridayam Sarirasthanam, uttarasthanam, Charaka Samhitha – Chikitsastahanam, Sushrutha Samhita – Soothrastanam regarding arthava utpathi, nashtarthavam, asrgdaram, yoniroga chikitsa were covered in the discussion held in the first session of Parayanam & pravachanam by Ashtamgam Ayurveda Chikitsalayam & Vidyapeedham Principal Ayurveda Vachaspathi Vaidya M Prasad, MD (Ay).

Dr. Mini P, MD (Ay) SMO,Govt Ayurveda Dispensary,Vazhithala, Idukki made a presentation regarding Nidanam – samprapthi – lakshanas in Asrigdaram – practical aspects who connected the nidana – samprapti to the chikitsa aspects.

The session on Chikitsa visesham & clinical experiences in Asrigdaram – practical was convened by Dr. Anitha K Viswambharan, MD (Ay), Associate Professor,Department of Prasoothi Thanthra & Sthree roga,VPSV Ayurveda College, Kottaykkal was transformed into an interactive sessions since the delegates raised significant questions.

An inspiring session on Clinical experiences in Nashtarthavam & Asrgdaram by Dr. Aryadevi, BAM, Chief Physician, Sukrutham Ayurveda Chikitsalayam, Kozhikode led to the building of confidence for of many delegates to practice Sthreerogam.

A session on Rasasastra practices in Nashtarthavam & Asrgdaram by Dr. Sasikumar Nechiyil, MD (Ay), Chief Physician, Nechiyil Ayurveda Vaidyasala conveyed the importance of rasoushadhas in clinical practice and discussed some formulations that can be used in Streeroga practice.

The session on 7 th August started with Oushadhavisesham in Asrgadaram by Dr. Jeena Aravind U, MS (Ay) Department of Prasoothi and Sthree roga department, Ashtamgam Ayurveda Chikitsalayam & Vidyaapeedham conveying the different samprapthi that can be seen in asrgdaram and the appropriate oushadhas practising by the clinicians.

Dr. Deepa Raj MS (Ay) Medical Officer, Govt Ayurveda Dispensary, Chempilode, Kannur shared her views on doshavishesha chintha in different presentations of menstrual disorders and chikitsa of nashtharthavam in her presentation on “ Chikitsa of Nashtarthavam” .

The concept of arthavam, nashtarthavam and arthavakshayam was discussed in  the session conducted by Dr. Pushparani MD (Ay), Associate Professor, Dept of Prasoothi Thanthra and Streeroga,Rajiv Gandhi Ayurveda Medical College, Mahe highlighting  the conceptualthoughts in arthavakshaya, utpathi, nashtarthavam with references in samithas.

 A team under the leadership of Ashtangam Ayurveda Chikitsalayam & Vidyapeedham principal Ayurveda Vachaspathi Vaidya M Prasad, MDS(Ayu) and Dy. Medical Superintendent Dr. Purushothaman Namboothiri, comprising of Dr. Jeena Aravind and Dr. Arun B Varrier led to the sucess of the seminar in co-ordination with Dr.Anusree, Dr. Omprakash Narayanan, Dr. Rinsana, Dr.Sreeparvathy, Dr. Jithesh Chandran, Dr. A. Ramya, Dr. Manoj Kumar.

Rithusameeksha gave an additional golden feather to the existing crown of Team Ashtamgam and Ashtangam Ayurveda Chikitsalayam & Vidyaapeedham.
